At a recent press event, TLC was taken to task for its casting process after the Josh Duggar debacle shone a spotlight on the secret lives of the stars of the network's biggest shows.

TLC's General Manager Nancy Daniels responded upon being asked by the press corps in attendance about the network's vetting process regarding the scandal surrounding not only "19 Kids and Counting" but the networks other shows including "90 Day Fiancé" and "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."

"Our first priority is making sure that there's a health and well-being of our families first and foremost. We feature stories of different families with real people and real things happen," Daniels responded regarding the questions, in a story published by Deadline.

Daniels didn't specify about the new tactics other than the network has put "stop gaps in place" and "we have a strong screening process that has evolved."

During the press conference, the network executive found herself in the hot seat from reporters who were interested in finding out how and if the behind-the-scenes casting process would change since the scandals broke.

"One of the responses [to the Josh Duggar scandal] was doing the documentary we did back in August, to really put the word out there, to help with a situation that isn't talked about that's out there," responded Daniels during the press conference.

The network continues to fall under heavy scrutiny after several of its major series including "19 Kids and Counting," "90 Day Fiancé," "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and "Sister Wives" have had scandals that affected their shows.

"19 Kids and Counting" star Josh Duggar was accused of molesting four of his sisters and a babysitter, as well as cheating on wife Anna Duggar with an adult film star.

June Shannon, star of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" saw her series cancelled after it was revealed she was dating Mark McDaniel, a man who molested her eldest daughter Anna Cardwell when she was a young girl.

"Sister Wives" star Meri Brown revealed she was carrying on an on-line affair with a man while she posed as a happily married wife to Kody Brown on the TLC reality series.

"90 Day Fiance" star 19-year-old Nikki, was revealed to be a model who was married prior to her appearance on the show.

The TLC chief did remark that she was very pleased with the performance of the recent series of specials starring Jill and Jessa Duggar titled "Jill & Jessa: Counting On."

"We just aired a three-part special before the holidays that did very well. We had over 3 million viewers. The audience cares about these girls," said Daniels.

TLC has not determined whether or not The Duggar family would be featured in any further specials for the network.
