Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) is in deep trouble when "Suits" season 5 returns, since his secret of not having a law degree has now been exposed, and prosecutor Anita Gibbs (Leslie Hope) is out to get him.
The show's executive producer Aaron Korsh told TV Line that Mike, being the good guy that he is, will take the revelation badly.
"He does understand that he did it. I guess in various ways he will have crises of conscience, but that is not going to stop them from trying to make the consequences of this thing be as soft as possible," he said.
Korsh wanted to remind the audience who are thinking that Gibbs is the villain that Mike and his colleagues are actually guilty of the crime, and she is only doing her job.
For now, only Mike is in trouble, but there is a huge chance that his boss Harvey Spectre (Gabriel Macht) would be caught in the line of fire too.
"She obviously knows Mike was hired and works for Harvey, so once she goes digging, she's going to start having her suspicions. But she believes somebody knew, and she's trying to find out how far the conspiracy goes," revealed Korsh.
He also teased that the firm will be affected "massively" by Mike's secret, and for the last six episodes, fans will be wondering whether or not the characters "can hang together."
Sarah Rafferty, who plays Donna Paulsen in the series, said that it's actually difficult to guess who turned Mike to the authorities now.
"It's hard to keep track at this point of who knows what or how they might now it," the actress said. "We can guess that some people might have a rough idea, but it's the motivation that's kind of hard for me to figure out."
