Awards season is just beginning to warm up, and stars including Cate Blanchett, Amber Heard, Kate Winslet and Alicia Vikander walked their first red carpet of the year at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards on January 2.
Retro glamour was a clear influence on the beauty looks, with red lips, cat eyes and elegant curls evoking silver screen sirens of the 1940s and 50s like Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth and Lauren Bacall.

Cate Blanchett’s retro-inspired beauty look was especially appropriate and wouldn’t be out of place in her movie “Carol,” set in 1952. She paired a classic red lip with pink blush, an understated eye and a side-parted, wavy bob.
