Linstead fans were shocked to hear that a woman may come between most popular couple. We recently learned that said woman will be played by Charisma Carpenter ("Buffy", "Angel") and she will play a marijuana dispensary owner and now we have the scoop on her first episode.
According to an officialy synopsis from CarterMatt.com, "While working at a sobriety checkpoint, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) finds a duffel bag full of heroin in the truck of a respected college professor who claims to know nothing about how the drugs ended up there. Voight (Jason Beghe) decides to hold off on charging the unlikely suspect and Olinksy (Elias Koteas) and Antonio (Jon Seda) follow up on a lead to see who is behind the drug smuggling. At District, Roman (Brian Geraghty) expresses his desires to become a Field Training Office to Platt (Amy Morton.)"
As for how Carpenter's character comes into play, during this episode entitled "A Night Owl" Mouse (guest star Samuel Hunt) gets Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) an off-duty security job at a medical marijuana clinic and Carpenter is the owner. Could this be the end of Lindsay and Halstead? Then again sometimes bringing in a third party leads to a relationship becoming even stronger.
But before then fans will get some major Linstead action in an episode airing this month. When Detectives Erin Lindsay (Sohia Bush) and Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) take a road trip they will reveal their interesting backstories.
Lindsay's troubled youth and how she met Hank Voight will be shown. We will find out Lindsay was very close with Voight's now deceased wife and it seems like we will also learn a bit more about Voight in the process as well. As for Halstead, the viewer will learn about his family background and time spent in the military. This will focus a lot on his time in Afghanistan with Craig "Mouse" Gurwitch (Samuel C. Hunt).
"For the time being, we're going to see a little bit more freedom for them, and they're going to be enjoying not having Voight breathing down their neck all time, 'cause he signed off on the relationship. We're going to see them enjoy being cops and having their flirtation on the side," producer Derek Haas said.
As for the crossover event between the three shows in January it sounds like "Chicago Fire's" Gabriela Dawson will get involved with Olinsky's new daughter Michelle and it may not go so smoothly even though she is trying to help out.
The event will also explore the backstory of the sometimes shady, but ultimately good Voight and Detective Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush) and uncover the backstory of Voight's late wife.
