The 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards are almost here, and we cannot wait to see who wins these prestigious awards.
One category we are looking forward to finding out the winner of is Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
There is some serious competition in this category this year. This year's nominees include Claire Daines for "Homeland," Viola Davis for "How to Get Away with Murder," Julianna Margulies for "The Good Wife," Maggie Smith for "Downton Abbey" and Robin Wright for "House of Cards."
All of the talented ladies in this category deserve to win, but we think the winner will be either Smith or Davis.
Find out a little bit more about Smith and Davis below, and why they could win the SAG Award this year.
Maggie Smith, "Downton Abbey"
Smith stars as Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham in "Downton Abbey." The series follows the aristocratic Crawley family in Yorkshire, as they go through numerous major historical events.
The most recent season of "Downton Abbey," which was its sixth, was also the final season of the series. The series completed its run in the United Kingdom, but United States fans still have a few more weeks to watch the series on their televisions.
Smith has been nominated for this category at the SAG Awards several times, and she even won the award for the show's third season.
Smith has received countless awards and recognition for her work on "Downton Abbey." In one review, specifically, Violet Crawley was said to be one of, if not the, most memorable character from Smith's career.
"In her venerable old age Maggie Smith has, almost inadvertently - for who could have predicted Downton's giant success? - come up with one of her finest and most memorable creations," Serena Davies wrote for The Telegraph.
During this season of the show, Smith continued to wow viewers with her incredible talent, while also making them laugh with her memorable quotes, but will that be enough to win her another SAG Award?
Viola Davis, "How to Get Away with Murder"
Davis stars as Annalise Keating in ABC's "How to Get Away With Murder." The series follow Davis' character, who is a college law professor, who works with five of her students to solve several high-profile murder cases.
Davis has been praised and awarded for her work on the show. After the show's emotional mid-season two finale, where Davis' character was shot by one of her students, one actress from the show opened up about how incredible of an actress Davis is.
"The fact that she did that just taught us all the generosity of what an actor should have," Karla Souza, who plays Laurel Castillo on the show, said about Davis giving her all to the mid-season finale's filming. "Those are lessons we get everyday."
Davis took home this award at last year's SAG Awards, but will her emotional performance be enough to secure her a second win in a row?
Do you think Smith or Davis should win this award? Tell us in the poll below!
The 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards air Saturday, Jan. 30, at 8 p.m. ET on TNT and TBS.
