One of the biggest upcoming tours of 2016 are the upcoming select Guns 'N Roses shows, reuniting the entire band for the first time in over 20 years, and fans can thank Jon Bon Jovi's words of wisdom to Steven Tyler for the matchup.
After speaking with Bon Jovi about the delicate interplay between band members in a friendly conversation, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler revealed that it was the advice from the Jersey-born singer that helpedhim to reunite the broken band.
"People in the world need you," Tyler recalled the singer telling him a few years ago about mending fences with his band Aerosmith, via a report by the website Ultimate Classic Rock.
"There're a place and time, where if you don't [reunite], you're gonna miss it," he noted. "And in another four or five years, no one's even gonna knows who they were or care if they were on tour," Bon Jovi continued to Tyler.
Taking this message to heart and working things out with longtime bandmate Joe Perry when the two were infamously not speaking, Tyler gave the same bit of advice to Guns 'N Roses lead singer Axl Rose when the two met up in a club last year.
"I did meet Axl in a couple of clubs, a year ago, two years ago, three years ago, and I'd bump into him, and I'd have that talk," Tyler said in an interview with Sirius XM radio personality, Howard Stern on Jan. 26.
The lead singer and songwriter for the beloved '70s band relayed the same message to Rose about reuniting with GNR.
"I have such a huge ego about keeping the fire and the music together, because if people come up to me and say, 'Dude, I got laid to your music,' or a woman comes up and says, 'We got married to your songs,'" Tyler shared.
"You had something to do with the fabric of people. Guns N' Roses had something to do with the fabric of humans on this planet," he remarked of how music can influence the biggest parts of people's lives.
In response to Tyler's statements, Guns 'N Roses member Duff McKagen penned on Twitter, "Guns N' Roses would like to respectfully thank the many people taking credit for our upcoming shows and everything in between," the statement read.
"Especially those whom we haven't spoken to in numerous years who, through the power of media, have somehow served a pivotal, even if non-existent role. We, and the fans thank you!" said McKagen in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.
Guns 'N Roses will perform select dates in April, including a set of dates at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena on April 8-9.
The band will also perform at Coachella on April 15.
No other dates have been released regarding the reunion thus far.
