In "The Flash" season two, episode 11, Jay Garrick admitted that his Earth-1 doppelganger is actually a man named Hunter Zolomon and this revelation has lead to some fans speculating that he is either Zoom in disguise or his twin is an evil speedster.
In "The Reverse-Flash Returns," Caitlin Snow is determined to stop her boyfriend Jay Garrick from dying and attempted to find his Earth-1 doppelganger in the hopes of creating a cure.
Comic Book reported that Jay admitted to Caitlin that his Earth-1 doppelganger has a different name.
Apparently, Jay's twin is a man named Hunter Zolomon. After his mother died in childbirth, he bounced around a few different families until the Zolomons adopted him.
Entertainment Weekly added that Jay also told Caitlin that his twin's DNA wouldn't work because his own cells were mutated when he became a speedster. Therefore, the only chance he has at stopping his sickness is catching Zoom and taking his powers back.
The revelation that Jay's Earth-1 doppelganger is Hunter Zolomon led many fans to believe that Zoom is connected to one or both of the characters.
According to Cinema Blend, Hunter Zolomon was once a friend to Wally West.
However, he becomes paralyzed in an accident and asks his friend to go back in time in order to avoid the incident. The Flash refuses to tamper with the timeline and Hunter decides to use the Cosmic Treadmill in order to change his fate.
Unfortunately, Hunter gained powers of his own after he used the Cosmic Treadwill and tormented his former friend in the hopes of making him a better hero.
Currently, there are three popular fan theories regarding Jay Garrick and Zoom.
One theory for "The Flash" season two suggests Jay Garrick never existed and it was always Zoom posing as the hero to confuse everyone.
After all, the only time viewers saw Earth-2 Jay and Zoom fighting is in the former's memories, which could be unreliable.
The second theory suggests Zoom killed the real Jay Garrick and stole his identity, which would mirror Eobard Thawne (Reverse-Flash) killing Earth-1 Harrison Wells and taking over his body in the first season.
The final theory suggests Jay's Earth-1 doppelganger Hunter is actually Zoom himself and targeted Earth-2 flash because he wanted to steal his twin's speed.
"The Flash" season two is currently airing on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
