Zayn Malik bailed on his first solo television appearance on Britian's "The Graham Norton Show" prior to the release of his first single "Pillowtalk."
Malik's representative confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the former One Direction singer would not be able to fulfill his commitment to "The Graham Norton Show."
The singer's rep confirmed in a story published by Entertainment Weekly that due to "unforeseen conflicts with recording commitments," he will not appear on the talk show.
Malik had initially revealed that he would appear on Norton's talk show to discuss the tune and his still-untitled solo album.
"I think I always kind of wanted to go, from the first year, really," Malik told Apple Music's Zane Lowe in a taped interiview that aired on Jan. 28 on Beats One.
"I never really wanted to be there in the band, I just gave it a go because it was there at the time," said Malik in an interview with Apple Beats Zane Lowe.
"I think the boys kind of knew, in terms of the music, that wasn't my cup of tea," the singer admitted.
"They obviously didn't want me to leave, but they couldn't talk me out of it at that point," Malik says. "I'd already made my mind up."
Malik left the band in March of 2015 and released the following statement regarding his departure.
"My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined," Malik said in a statement.
"But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I'd like to apologize to the fans if I've let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight."
"Pillow Talk" will be released on Jan 29.
