Get excited - Alexa's moving away from slogan tees and denim with an archive collab...
Where’s Alexa Chung been? Aside from Villiod, we haven’t seen much of the 'modern day fash icon' for a while – save for pap pics of her impeccable Williamsburg outfits, where she now resides.
Now, we’ve got the answer – she’s been busy collaborating with high street giant Marks & Spencer for the most exciting (and slightly random) collection we’ve heard of in a while.
Drawing on the current throwback obsession, with 90s revival styles all over the catwalk, Alexa has picked pieces from the M&S archive and recreated them with new fabrics and colourways.
The 32-year-old said: ‘It was so fun to be given the keys to the M&S archive and such a treat to get to cherry pick the very best of their vast collection of pieces’.
The capsule – called Archive By Alexa - will comprise of 31 items, which have been curated by Alexa and the store’s design team.
‘I pulled from stored garments, in-house magazines and TV adverts from various points in the history of Marks & Spencer to create the collection that I believe looks every bit as relevant today as it did then’, she said.
If anyone’s got the eye to pick the most timeless pieces – the ones that the 2016 fashion folk will love, it’s Alexa.
Apart from that suede midi skirt, which back in February 2015, Alexa and Olivia Palermo made the it piece for AW15, the partnership may come as a surprise to some.
‘I have always had an affection for Marks & Spencer’, said Alexa.
‘I am thrilled to be part of this special and unique project. There was something very touching about looking back through the British fashion and social history for which M&S is synonymous.’
As the poster girl for Brit cool style, albeit from New York, Alexa does seem the obvious choice for such a collab. Especially after the success of AC For AG Jeans, her collections with Adriana Goldschmied.
Having seen the campaign – which was styled by Alexa – the jazzy high neck, frilly shirt is our #1.
And you’ve only got a few months to wait as it’s launching in April. For now, you'll have to make do with the dripfeed of updates from Alexa's Instagram - like this NEW pic... (We want that shirt, whatever the cost.)
