Five Seconds of Summer was just honored for the second year in a row with the Worst Band at the NME Awards and their reaction to the award is positively shocking!

Drummer Ashton Irwin made a tongue-in-cheek remark of the esteemed award on Twitter, "NME worst band 2 years running, we are unstoppable at being the worst!"

Fans apparently were in on the joke, retweeting Irwin's comment over 31K times.

On the flip side, band bassist Calum Hood said of the band's devoted followers on the social media site, "Supporting us boys I refuse to call you fans because you mean much more than that, love you guys."

On Feb. 17, the band was given the "honor" at the NME annual awards show, sponsored by the long-running British music publication New Music Express.

The Worst Band Award had some esteemed music names in the category, including One Direction and U2, according to Music Times. Also up for the honor were Little Mix, Nickleback and British duo Sleaford Mods.

Also honored at the awards were The Maccabees took home Best British Band, Charli XCX won Best British Solo Artist while Run the Jewels took home the Best International Band and Taylor Swift the Best International Solo award.

Irwin also posted on Twitter big thanks to the band's Japanese fans who came out in full force to support Five Seconds of Summer's first shows on their "Sounds Live, Feels Live" World Tour.

Said Irwin on the social media site, "It's not about how pitch perfect someone sings a song, it's about heart, it's about why they are signing it, it's about why they wrote it."

He followed that Tweet up with, "First show of 102 shows this year! This is gonna be a wild ride, are you with us?"

After taking the latter part of 2015 and the early part of 2016 to rest and recharge after spending the better part of 2015 on tour and doing promotional work for their "Rock Out with your Socks Out" tour, Luke Hemmings, Irwin, Calum Hood and Michael Clifford are ready to hit the road again.

Five Seconds of Summer are touring in support of their latest album, "Sounds Good, Feels Good."
