(Photo : HBO) Marnie's wedding (Allison Williams) is not the dream event she thought it would be during season five, episode one of "Girls," when everything that could go wrong on her special day to Desi, does.

"Girls" debut episode of season five titled "Wedding Day" set the wheels in motion for what seems to be a season of change for the longtime pals of the HBO series, where growing up could very well mean pulling away from one another.

Marnie (Allison Williams) attempted to make her wedding day to Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) an event to remember, but her own overwhelming desire for perfection almost ruined her chances for a beautiful day.

Added to the mix was Hannah's (Lena Dunham) selfish behavior, as she couldn't wrap her head around the fact that her life with one of her best friends would very well change once she was a married woman.

Marnie and Desi's wedding was held in a gorgeous upstate countryside setting.

Hannah, Jessa (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) were Marnie's bridesmaids and they spent most of the episode attempting to keep the bride under control after a series of events threatened to ruin her wedding.

The threat of rain during the outdoor wedding, Marnie's mother's (guest Rita Wilson) overbearing attitude and the inept behavior of a bridal hairstylist gone wrong (Bridget Evertt) make the event more stressful than serene.

Said Marnie in a memorable line to her hairstylist and makeup artist, before emerging from the makeover looking like a wax figure, "I'm totally easy, easygoing girl, you know me, right? And just make sure you run everything by me before it's final."

Selfish as ever, Hannah demonstrated no support for Marnie and refused to change her hair or fix her dress as the bride requested.

She did nothing but complain about Marnie's attitude and ran to meet up with boyfriend Fran (Jake Lacy) for the oddest lovemaking session ever seen during a wedding episode.

Hannah, who has learned from Fran that Desi had been engaged seven times and who assumed that Marnie didn't know this information, decided to keep that information secret and encouraged Marnie to proceed with the wedding.

Fran attempted to fit in with the male "Girls" group to the best of his ability, despite the fact that they consider him an outsider.

Shoshanna ended up doing all of the bridesmaid work that was designated for Hannah, who didn't invite long-distance boyfriend Scott (Jason Ritter) to the wedding because she was afraid if she saw him things would change between them.

Jessa saved the day by fixing Marnie's makeup, taking some of the brunt from Shoshanna and dealing with Marnie's overbearing mother.

Even when Ray (Alex Karposky) had a chance to stop the wedding, his pep talk about love and destiny backfired on his attempts to let Desi know his real feelings for Marnie. Instead, his talk pushed Desi to actually go through with the wedding.

"Girls" airs at Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
