We spied a major beauty trend at New York Fashion Week: goth-inspired beauty. Models at Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and Rihanna’s Fenty X Puma show rocked dark lipstick, pale skin and dramatic hair for gothic glamour.

Rihanna kicked it off with her Fenty X Puma show on Feb. 12. Models including Gigi and Bella Hadid wore matte black lipstick and little other makeup, with their hair dyed partially white — but only at the top. Rihanna’s sneakers were paired with black, bondage-inspired looks and rosary beads, making for a show that was the very definition of “health goth.”

Rodarte went for a softer take on goth at their Feb. 16 show. Models wore dark red lipstick with simple hairstyles that emphasized flyaways. Paired with Victorian-inspired fashion, the look was a pretty and romantic take on the trend.

Marc Jacobs models rocked the most dramatic gothic look of New York Fashion Week with graphic black eyeliner, black matte lipstick and elaborate, Victorian-inspired hairstyles for the Feb. 18 show. The label earned plenty of press by casting high-profile models including Kendall Jenner, Langley Fox, Stella Maxwell and Lady Gaga in her runway debut. After the show, Lady Gaga posted a few Instagram photos highlighting her goth makeup — making sure that everyone’s going to be talking about this trend.
