"Shadowhunters" episode 5, "Moo Shu to Go," answered a few questions posed in previous episodes of the "Mortal Instruments" spinoff.
First, it has been made clear why Alec (Matthew Daddario) has been acting more frigid than usual, and Clary (Katherine McNamara) is the culprit.
Viewers have already been introduced to the special relationship between Alec and Jace (Dominic Sherwood). They are parabatai — brothers-in-arms who have sworn to fight together and protect each other. As it turns out, Alec has feelings for Jace, and he thinks that Clary is a threat to their bond.
Despite hiding his feelings, Clary sees through Alec.
"You're in love with Jace," Clary tells Alec in one of the scenes of the latest episode, to which Alec responds with: "You're in love with Jace."

Alec also revealed to Jace that it was him he saw when they summoned the Memory Demon in the past episode. Jace, however, did not try to read between the lines and said it was normal for Alec to see him as special because they're parabatai. Alec has been cast to the friendzone, but he will not exactly be drowning in grief. Brooklyn's High Warlock Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) has taken quite a liking to Alec, and it seems the attraction is mutual.
But that's not the only thing that viewers who are new to Cassandra Clare's world were treated to. Luke's Isaac Mustafa) identity has also been revealed. Clary's father-figure is actually a werewolf! And the latest episode of the show saw him becoming the Alpha of his pack.
The Lightwood matriarch, Maryse (Nicole Damude), has also been introduced — and she is fierce!
While there have been a few revelations, there were also many questions posed in the latest episode of the show. Why did Alec and Clary not find it curious that Simon (Alberto Rosende), Clary's mundane/human best friend, is suddenly super strong? Will he be a vampire for life? Does Jace see Alec only as a brother or will their bond lead to something more romantic?
