"X-Men: Apocalypse" star Sophie Turner might be new to the franchise, but she is already playing a very important character, Jean Grey.
The 19-year-old star teased that the upcoming movie directed by Bryan Singer will be "the biggest 'X-Men'" film so far simply because of Oscar Isaac's villain Apocalypse, which she considers as "the most powerful mutant who has ever lived."
"It's the darkest 'X-Men' so far, definitely," she told Entertainment Tonight.
According to Turner, Apocalypse will basically be rounding up "his accomplices" and engage in a "huge, huge battle" with the X-Men.
"It's going to be big," she guaranteed.
However, the movie is not all about power exhibitions and battles, since they will also explore the origins of the "tripod" Jean Grey, Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) and Storm (Alexandra Shipp).
Jean and Scott, in particular, will share a blossoming romance despite their internal struggles.
"There's a little bit of a love story in it. It's very exciting," added Turner.
Aside from Scott, Jean Grey will also have a special relationship with James McAvoy's Professor Charles Xavier.
"They have this unspoken bond because he's telepathic as well, he's gone through the same things. He's very powerful and he sees that growing in her. He wants to protect her and help her control her powers, but also help her access the best of her ability. They have a really sweet relationship," Turner earlier told Digital Spy.
Meanwhile, Singer has become so attached to the "X-Men" franchise that he is keen on continuing these characters' stories in more movies to come.
He even joked that he would be "directing these movies until he's dead," since he refuses to let any other director take responsibility for the continuation of these mutants' stories.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will make its way to cinemas on May 27.
