There have been many rumors has to why Zayn Malik left One Direction, including fans blaming Perrie Edwards for the reason of him leaving. After revealing that he decided to go solo, he also wanted to break things off with his fiancé and fans couldn’t wrap their heads around why.
After being broken up for a few months, the Little Mix member is trying to move on her way, while the former One Directioner is coping with the split his way.
Although Malik has moved on to dating Gigi Hadid, it looks like he is still getting over his breakup with Edwards in his own way. According to Hollywood Life, in a new interview, he revealed that one of the songs on his upcoming solo album is all about his breakup with Edwards, and it was therapeutic for him.
Fans will reportedly get a glimpse into what happened between the former love birds in the new song, called “It’s You.”
“I just felt like I needed to put myself out there on that just because it was a form of therapy for me and it did help get me through some s**t,” said Malik to Zane Lowe on Beats 1. “So if it can help somebody else at the same time, then that’s cool.”
After a heartbreaking split, Edwards previously opened up about the split between her and her ex-fiancé. Edwards has kept herself poise and carried a lot of strength, but we don’t know how she kept it together.
Edwards was recently named Woman of the Year in Fabulous magazine, where she talks about the struggle of maintaining work obligations amid the fresh breakup.
The Little Mix member revealed that although it wasn’t a easy breakup, she found a bright light at the end of the tunnel.
“As difficult as it can be to have your private life plastered all over the press and on social media every day, I guess the one plus side is that it is like a looking glass for other women to look in and relate to,” said Edwards. “I learn new things every day, but I’ve learned that no matter what life throws at you, you take it day by day.”
Edwards admitted that her bandmates helped her get through the tough breakup as well.
“My bond with Jade, Jesy and Leigh-Anne this year has become even stronger,” said Edwards. “They’re the most incredibly supportive girls and I’m very grateful to have them.”
Malik also previously opened up about his split with Edwards and set things straight about the various rumors that have been circulating.
Malik told The Fader magazine that he didn’t breakup with Edwards via text message and he never cheated on her.
