"ANTM" creator Tyra Banks revealed that not only has becoming a mother to son York brought joy and happiness to her life, it has empowered her in a way she never believed was possible.
"I really now am empowering my team. I'm understanding delegation, understanding that I don't have to do everything to make something successful," she continued in an interview with E! News.
"I'm on maternity leave and Tyra Beauty is kickin' butt!" she quipped.
Banks has been on maternity leave since the birth of son York Banks Asla, but that hasn't stopped the business mogul to continue to oversee her growing business empire.
"It just got to show, empower and empower others and you can grow," remarked Banks of her business model.
The former supermodel and longtime love Erik Asla welcomed their son via a surrogate in January.
"The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here," the model shared on Instagram alongside a photo of a newborn baby hospital cap.
"He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world," Banks revealed.
Banks has stepped back into the spotlight after taking maternity leave to care for baby York.
"Well, I'm on maternity leave right now, just taking a break," she explained in the E! interview.
After several years of trying to carry her own child, Banks and Asla were able to find a surrogate to carry their longed-for child into the world. Despite the lack of sleep and minor disruption to her life, this is a moment in her life the former model cherishes.
"Some mornings you wake up, and you're like, 'Where am I? I don't know what's going on. So I balance that and his dad helps, and we go back and forth so that's good," Banks explained.
'ANTM' has recently been picked up by VHI and will debut on the channel sometime in 2016 for a 14-episode season.
