(Photo : HBO Television) "Girls" season five shows Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) is not as happy as she believed she would be during her new life in Japan.

"Girls" continues to delve further into the lives of their main characters, revealing deep unsettling views of the lives of both Shoshanna and Hannah, who are attempting to create a new path for themselves.

After several episodes where the character of Hannah tried to find ways to bond with her father Tad (Peter Scolari),  "Queen for Two Days" switched the focus to her realtionship with her mother Loreen (Becky Ann Baker).

After deciding that she wanted a divorce from Tad, Loreen hit the road with daughter Hannah for a  "Spring Queening" retreat.

Loreen revealed that she wanted to go on the retreat because she had "some big choices to make" and was concerned that she would end up "sexless and alone."

The retreat was a way for Loreen to spend time with herself and figure out what road she wanted to take next in her life.

Hannah on the other hand found the retreat a way to get upset about the things going on in her life, including questioning her first solid and adult relationship with nice-guy Fran.

Loreen admitted that she and Tad "did a number" on Hannah, damaging their daughter and not allowing her to "love someone who is kind to you."

Hannah had a lesbian encounter at the retreat, hooking up with an attractive yoga teacher in a sauna. But she bailed before finished the sexual deed.

Loreen then admitted she would ultimately stay with Tad because she was afraid to start over so late in life.

She also feared that any new relationship with a man wouldn't be worth it and she wasn't ready to let go of her marriage.

Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) seemed to have it all in Japan, working at a cat café and enjoying a relationship with Yoshi.

Abigail (Aidy Bryant), who fired Shoshanna from her job in Japan, realized the extent of her friend's unhappiness when she found Shosh both unhappy and lonely in the foreign country.

Jessa (Jemima Kirke) continued to push forward into her relationship with Adam (Adam Driver) and invited him out to dinner with her sister, Minerva (Marianna Palka).

"Girls" airs on HBO on Sundays at 10 p.m. EST.
