New "Luke Cage" set photos hinted that the protagonist is going to perform a miraculous feat in front of a crowd. The images also offered a sneak peek of a character named Misty Knight who is a superhero in the original Marvel comics.
Comic Book Movie noted that the new batch of set photos featured Luke Cage, Claire Temple and Misty Knight.
Comic Vine added that Misty was a former NYPD cop who lost her right arm during a terrorist attack and Tony Stark arranged for her to receive a bionic prosthetic in recognition of her courage.
Misty also has a complicated relationship with the hero Danny Rand, who fights crime as Iron Fist.
The former cop also helped Luke fight crime by joining his Heroes for Hire organization in the original comics and patrolling the streets of New York.
Entertainment Weekly added that Netflix is also going to release an "Iron Fist" series with "Game of Thrones" star Finn Jones as the lead.
It will be interesting to see if Misty already has her bionic arm in "Luke Cage" or if the attack will happen in the first season.
Perhaps the events of "Luke Cage" will also set up the future romance between Danny and Misty by having the two characters briefly meet each other in the season finale.
Comic Book Movie pointed out that the new set photos also revealed that Luke is going to use his powers to save someone.
Luke can be seen lifting up a manhole cover with ease while a proud Misty and a worried Claire watch from the crowd.
It is possible that Misty finds out that Luke has superpowers and she is instrumental in convincing him to fight crime as a superhero.
"Luke Cage" will be available for streaming on Netflix on Sept. 30, 2016.
