Now that Ben Higgins is happily engaged to Lauren Bushnell, JoJo Fletcher, who was the runner-up on the season finale, was recently announced as the new “Bachelorette” for 2016.
Fans were excited to hear that Fletcher will be searching for love on the TV show, but before we watch her find her future husband, she opened up about her breakup with Higgins.
Fletcher recently made an appearance on “Good Morning America” (via People magazine) on Friday to discuss where everything stands as she goes on her journey to find the love of her life.
Before her breakup with Higgins on “The Bachelor” finale, Fletcher admitted that she “went into that morning feeling like I was going to get engaged.”
“I had mentally prepared myself for that, but it didn’t work out,” said Fletcher.
Fletcher and Higgins haven’t talked since “After the Final Rose,” but admitted that she only keeps in touch with his fiancé, Lauren Bushnell.
“Ben and I don’t communicate,” said Fletcher. “I kind of have my relationship with Lauren which is my first priority.”
We’ve been getting some sneak peeks into this season of “The Bachelorette,” and Fletcher admitted that she is already “connecting with these guys.”
“I am having fun with them! I’m actually feeling feelings, which I didn’t expect so early on,” said Fletcher, adding that she is looking for a man “that can make me feel safe and protected and somebody that I can trust. I want to get engaged. i want marriage. I want a family. So, I feel like this could happen right now!”
Fletcher and the contestants apparently headed over to Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Pennsylvania this week for a few fun dates.
According to Post-Gazette, ABC affiliate WTAE revealed that the resort will host this season of “The Bachelorette.” Reports circulated for weeks that the wester Pennsylvania spot would be a location for part of the show.
According to Us Weekly, on March 19, Fletcher enjoyed her first group date.
“The first group date was hot, hot, hot!!! #makeAmericahotagain,” tweeted “The Bachelor” creator Mike Fleiss. “Hot like, en fuego! #makeamericahotagain.”
Fleiss also revealed that Fletcher has already had a total kiss count of “3.5.” He also revealed that Fletcher had already eliminated five guys and shared her first kiss.
“JoJo still has 20 great guys from which to choose. I think she’s gonna find love...” Fletcher tweeted on Thursday. “Today’s update: JoJo and the remaining 20 men are all in bed. Don’t get any crazy ideas. It was a long night. #wrongsideofsunrise.”
