"The Dog Whisperer" and "Cesar 911" star Cesar Milan is currently being investigated for possible animal cruelty after a recent episode of his new show on National Geographic WILD showed the dog trainer being unable to stop a terrified canine from hurting a pig.

CBS News reported that Los Angeles County Animal Control officers and Santa Clarita sheriff's deputies are investigating Milan for possible animal cruelty after they received an online complaint about animal cruelty on his National Geographic WILD show "Cesar 911."

Officials went to Milan's training facility on Thursday night, but they were unable to locate him. There is a chance that they might return on Friday in order to talk to Milan.

The animal cruelty complaint stems from an episode of "Cesar 911" that aired on February 26 and showed an aggressive dog named Simon biting the ear of a pot-bellied pig.

Previously, Simon had a history of attacking his owner's pet pigs and she turned to Milan for help.

A petition on Change.org that is demanding National Geographic WILD take "Cesar 911" off the air because they feel Milan purposely used the pig as bait in order to entice the dog to attack currently has 9,243 signatures.

Milan is a polarizing figure in the dog training industry and the late animal behaviorist pioneer Dr. Sophia Yin pointed out that not only has "dominance theory" been debunked by science, but it is also very harmful to dogs too.

The dominance dog training theory says that since dogs are descended from wolves and wolves fight to lead the pack, owners need to show their pet who is boss in order to prevent them from misbehaving.

However, Dr. Yin pointed out that new research states a wolf pack is simply made up of two parents and their pups, so there's no need to fight to see who is the leader.

Dogs are also not simply "domesticated wolves" and doing things like rolling a dog onto its back actually scares them, which in turn makes their bad behavior worse.

The Los Angeles Times reported that National Geographic WILD released a statement and said the scene was taking out of context. The network claimed that the pig's ear was tended to immediately and the animal showed no lasting signs of distress.

National Geographic WILD added that Milan is willing to fully cooperate with the authorities and the trainer is confident that the investigation is going to prove that no animal cruelty took place during the episode.

At this time, no arrests have been made and the cruelty investigation is still ongoing.
