"Kingdom" star Jonathan Tucker recently revealed on Twitter that he landed the role of the Norse God Loki in STARZ's upcoming adaption of Neil Gaiman's novel "American Gods."
After STARZ announced that Tucker was going to play Loki, the actor took to Twitter to post a quote from Gaiman's novel.
"His lips twisted into a scarred smile," the actor wrote. "And the embers danced in the shadow of his eyes."
Entertainment Weekly noted that in the novel, Loki first appeared as Low-Key Liesmith, an ex-con that the protagonist Shadow Moon meets while he is in prison.
Later on, Shadow realized that his former cell mate Low-Key is actually an incarnation of the Norse god Loki.
Britannica added that in Norse mythology, Loki was a cunning trickster who had the power to shapeshift. He was also considered to be the god of chaos and fire.
Many myths claimed Loki was a good friend to both Odin and Thor, but there were also a few stories that hinted his antics got them into a good deal of trouble.
Loki is also considered to be the one who engineered the death of the gold Balder and he was punished for the murder.
Deadline reported that Crispin Glover is also going to be joining the cast of "American Gods" as Mr. World, who is the mysterious leader of the New Gods.
Aside from STARZ announcing two new cast members, "American Gods" executive producer Bryan Fuller posted a few photos from the first table read for the show on Twitter.
The images showed stars Ian McShane and Ricky Whittle sitting side-by-side as they read through the script.
Whittle also announced on Twitter that he went in for his first costume fitting and hinted that Shadow is going to have a great wardrobe on the show.
