"Arrow" star David Ramsey, who plays John Diggle, recently sat down to discuss episode 19 and he hinted that the death of Dinah Laurel Lance is going to send his character into an emotional tailspin.
Comic Book reported that the CW released the official synopsis for episode 19, which is titled "Canary Cry."
The episode is going to revolve around Oliver and the team struggling to come to terms with Laurel's death.
Diggle is also struggling with feelings of guilt because he refused to believe that his brother Andy was evil and that led to his friend dying.
Meanwhile, Quentin Lance refuses to believe that Laurel's dead and asks Nyssa al Ghul to bring her back. A recent Black Canary sighting in Star City appeared to prove his theory that Laurel is still alive; although there is a good chance that it is an imposter.
Ramsey told Access Hollywood that Team Arrow is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and Diggle blamed himself for Laurel's death, since he was blind to the fact that his brother Andy had not changed.
"Post-traumatic stress disorder has happened to the whole team after Laurel's death," he explained. "He's no exception and so we're seeing a Diggle that we've never seen before. What happened to his brother sent him on an emotional tailspin."
The "Arrow" star added that Diggle is also going to have to come to terms with the fact that the world is actually shades of grey rather than black and white.
"The fact that Diggle sees the world in black and white rather than shades of grey has always been his Achilles heel," Ramsey said. "He can't really wrap his head around the grey areas. You're going to see a Diggle who has to deal with the grey and because of that, he's fractured and he's willing to do things that you never thought he would do."
Ramsey added that Diggle and Oliver are also going to work on repairing their relationship in "Canary Cry."
"There has been some damage done, but not like last season," he said. "I think this time, Diggle has aligned himself with his new brother Oliver and then the reemergence of his blood brother, so to speak, just took him for a spin that he didn't really quite anticipate."
"Arrow" will return on Wednesday, April 27, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
