There is some bad news for "Louie" fans, Louis C.K. might end the show for good.
"I can't feel that show anymore," C.K. told HitFix TV critic Alan Sepinwall. "[It] feels very far in the past."
After ending its fifth season back in May, the FX series has been on hiatus. Meanwhile, C.K. has been busy with a myriad of other projects. C.K. surprised the world with a new series titled "Horace and Pete" — which he writes, directs, produces and stars in. In addition, C.K. has two other FX shows: "Baskets" which is currently on air and the upcoming "Better Things."
With everything else the comedian has going on, it is not that surprising that 'Louie' has been put on the backburner — possibly for good.
C.K. also told Sepinwall that "Horace and Pete" is "the best thing he has ever done."
"Horace and Pete" is a dramedy webseries that follows Brooklyn bar owners Horace, C.K., and Pete, Steve Buscemi. The first episode aired on January 30 on C.K.'s website with no warning. No one even knew the show was in the works. One day it just appeared.
Since its surprise airing, "Horace and Pete" has received nothing but high praise. Because of its great reception and the freedom C.K. has, it makes perfect sense that he would put his time and effort into that right now.
Despite the fact that C.K. is tired of "Louie" at this moment, does not mean that the show is gone for good. C.K. has always been a strong proponent of airing episodes and seasons when he wants to. He believes in making things when he has good ideas, not just when he is "supposed to."
Larry David was very similar and also took a long hiatus between "Curb Your Enthusiasm" seasons. Like C.K., David also believed in filming when creativity struck.
FX executives think the same thing might happen with "Louie." FX CEO John Landgraf told HitFix, "Louis is anxious to take a break and work on other things. I think Curb Your Enthusiasm is the right analogy. So, the truth is, I really don't know."
We will have to wait and see whether "Louie" makes it back to our screens.
