"Mr. Robot" season 2 will feature new characters, but not much is known about how they will affect the lives of the existing characters. Their performances are ones to look forward to, though.
Christian Slater, who plays Edward a.k.a. Mr. Robot, has teased Joey Bada$$'s (real name Jo-Vaugh Virginie Scott) performance in the upcoming installment of the show during an interview with Variety. Bada$$ will play Elliot's (Rami Malek) friend, but it has not been announced whether the character will be part of Elliot's present or past.
Recounting a moment where he watched series creator Sam Esmail, who will direct all episodes of the new show, on set with Bada$$, Slater said: "It was nice to see Sam looking at the monitor. He had the biggest grin on his face. He was just joyful."
Esmail has also opened up about how he trusts the actors to take care of their characters and portray them as honestly as possible.

"I consider the cast — each of them — as co-creators of that character because they have to live it, they have to breathe it ... they have to dream it. It's foolish for me to keep anything from them."
Meanwhile, there are other new cast members whose performances fans should keep an eye out on. The show has cast Craig Robinson as Elliot's neighbor, Chris Conroy as the lover of Tyler Wellick's (Martin Wallstrom) wife, Joanna (Stephanie Cornelioussen). Aasif Mandvi of "Daily Show" fame has also been tapped to be part of the series as Jesse, a special agent who is described as some sort of a "dog."
Grace Gummer was the first newcomer to be announced. The actress will play the role of FBI agent Dominique DiPierro.
Apart from Slater and Malek, the show will also feature the return of Portia Doubleday as Angela and Carly Chaikin as Darlene.
"Mr. Robot" season 2 is expected to premiere in the summer.
