A report came out this morning that there are ten trends "saving" the fashion retail industry this spring. Why, you ask, does it need rescuing? In a nutshell, we haven't been shopping as much lately. There just haven't been as many earth-shattering shifts in, say, must-have denim (the skinny jean has been on top for so long, now) to send us to the mall in droves to snag the latest. Also, Millenials; we can thank our I'd-rather-have-an-experience-than-stuff selves for lackluster clothing sales. And those Gen Zers, who want to stand out, not buy what everyone else is wearing.
But back to those spring trends—you, know, the important stuff. Things are changing, and there are tons of fresh trends for spring that are getting everyone excited to shop again—plus, some nice weather to get us outside and show off our goods. We've scanned the list and have to say, yassss, we're on board, and already wearing most of them. Are you? Have a look and see:
1. Off-the-shoulder tops and shoulder cutouts.
Kendall Jenner in a striped, off-the-shoulder top.
2. Destroyed denim.
Gigi Hadid is queen of the ripped jeans look.
3. Flare-leg denim. Are we finally saying buh-bye to our skinnies? Probably not. But the flare style is ultra-flattering—especially when cropped.
4. Cropped tops and bralettes.
5. High-waisted and short shorts for girls.
6. Short shorts for guys. (Wait, what?!)
7. Bottom-knot tops.
8. Halter dresses.
9. Plaid.
10. Yellow and citrus.
One thing we were surprised to not see on this list? Leggings. We guess that's because the trend is not exactly new. But, with people even wearing them to work, this look is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Now watch how to wear everything you've been told not to with model Georgia Pratt.
