Black Christmas
Black Christmas was truly ahead of its time. The slasher film is chock-full of nuanced, interesting women—a respite from the one-dimensional female characters who dominated horror at the time. And this movie wins for its depiction of abortion. (Mind you, Roe v. Wade happened only a year before.) The main character, Jess (Olivia Hussey), informs her boyfriend that she is pregnant and wants an abortion—and the flick doesn't crucify her for that decision.
