Celebrities such as Samantha Bee, Johnny Depp, Kathy Griffin, invoice Maher and Madonna are unwittingly performing in new GOP midterms ad painting leftists as "unhinged."
The one-minute spot titled "The Left in 2018: Unhinged" culls pictures from Bee's Full Frontal talk reveal (the place she insulted Ivanka Trump), Griffin's notorious "beheading" photograph of President Trump, bill Maher's real Time demonstrate (where he referred to a crashing economic system would damage Trump's popularity), Depp assassination joke ("When changed into the ultimate time an actor assassinated a president?), and a D.C. rally speech through Madonna (announcing she's notion about blowing up the White house), among different clips, all introduced through an ominous grey tone.
Griffin fired returned on Twitter: "The @GOP has used video from my Trump mask image shoot of their latest internet ad. They've also covered @MaxineWaters and @iamsambee – I'm in good business. is that this the best you bought guys? a comic book's photoshoot…whereas your president is conserving children in internment camps? F–k You."
Depp later apologized for his assassination joke that's used in the clip. Bee also apologized for her "feckless c–t" slam of Ivanka Trump. Madonna has stated her "blow up the White house" comment was "taken out of context" (noting "I don't promote violence and it's important individuals hear and take note my speech in its entirety in place of one phrase taken wildly out of context").
while California Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who's quoted in the ad calling for people to annoy Trump administration workers, has defended her remark, asserting, "in case you are looking to focus on civility, you delivery with the president …You implore him no longer to proceed to advertise violence, not to proceed to advertise divisiveness after which I feel he can be a higher example."
