Gabby Giffords, Parkland survivors and Chicago celebrities will be a part of St. Sabina for end-of-college peace march

A bevy of special visitors — including possibility the Rapper, Jennifer Hudson, former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and survivors of the Feb. 14 faculty capturing in Parkland, Fla. — are anticipated to be part of younger anti-violence activists in Chicago on Friday for a rally against gun violence and a march for peace.

The event, organized with St. Sabina Catholic Church, is the first cease on the countrywide #RoadtoChange tour deliberate through the Parkland survivor organizers. It also falls on the last Friday Chicago's public schools are in session.

"In all these decades of college shootings, I haven't considered the adolescence get up so effective and so bold and so brave, and so we wanted to automatically connect with that because violence has many faces," the Rev. Michael Pfleger, St. Sabina's pastor, informed the Tribune previous this month.

because it has for years, St. Sabina will sponsor group anti-violence marches each and every Friday during the summer. Church leadership says the kickoff adventure has drawn between 1,000 and a couple of,000 attendees during the past, but that it hopes this yr's lineup brings out 5,000.

The #RoadtoChange tour will consist of some 50 stops, including one in Naperville. David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez, Cameron Kasky and Jaclyn Corin, all from Marjory Stoneman Douglas high college, where the capturing in Parkland took vicinity, and about two dozen different students are anticipated to talk about their experiences right through a city hall meeting June 16 at DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church.
