WWD broke the news today that Hollywood director, Andrew Haigh is working on a biopic on the groundbreaking designer. According to sources, the director optioned the 2015 eye-opening biography, "Alexander McQueen: Blood Beneath The Skin" by Andrew Wilson, which charts the designer's career and offers interviews from his friends and family.
The news of the film, comes on the heels of “McQueen,” which was performed in London and extended due to its success.
As designers go, Lee (as he was known to friends) was one of the most elusive and controversial designers out there. He didn't do many interviews, TV shows or personal appearances, like most designers do today. His shows were polarizing and often shocking (think: a robotic arm shooting paint at model Shalom Harlow in a white dress in one, the Little Red Riding Hood-inspired show where models walked down the runway with wolves), but also breathtakingly beautiful, with exquisite tailoring and attention to detail.
We'll keep you posted on the details on the film as they come, but until then, here are some things you can hope to see in the film, as they were featured in Wilson's book:
McQueen designed for Givenchy for a short time. Here's Stella Tennant on the runway for the 1997 Givenchy Couture show.
Gisele Bundchen is barely recognizable in body paint on the runway in 1998.
McQueen created his first-ever red carpet dress for Kate Winslet in 1998.
The rainbow ballgown from 2002, is a study in McQueen's old-meets-new approach to fashion.
McQueen and Kate Moss were close friends and collaborated often.

Lady Gaga famously wore McQueens 10-inch Armadillo shoes to the VMAs in 2010.
