Is it truly over for "Fifty Shades Darker" star Dakota Johnson and on-again, off-again boyfriend Matthew Hitt after new script for sequel proved too racy for their fractured relationship?
It has been reported that the two ended their relationship following the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey" after gossip mags reported that the musician was not at all happy with Johnson's role of Anastasia Steele.
According to a story published by Perez Hilton, "Her life was getting too crazy and it wasn't something that he wanted to be a part of."
The site also remarked that it wasn't because of the steamy scenes at all, citing the reason for the split as Johnson's new status as a red carpet fixture.
Although she and Hilt continue to care deeply for each other, her career at this time is simply not conducive to maintaining a relationship.
"I don't have a problem doing anything. The secret is I have no shame," said the actress in an interview with Elle Magazine of "Fifty Shades Darker's" sex scenes.
She also remarked in the interview that her interest in the characters' emotional developments rather than the steamy sex scenes themselves are what drew her to the role initially.
The actress reportedly was smitten with the idea that a woman is the very thing that can break a man down.
Johnson's sexy co-star Dornan, who is happily married to Amelia Warner and is expecting his second child with the actress, remarked that he too is ready to take the next step in his character's development in "Fifty Shades Darker."
In an interview with People Magazine, Dornan revealed that he is looking forward to reprising his character Christian Grey. "I'm looking forward to embodying Christian again... and getting a chance to show more of him," he said.
"Fifty Shades Darker" hits theaters in Feb. 2017.
