Lady Gaga's 2016 continues to get better and better. After recently winning her first Golden Globe for playing The Countess in "American Horror Story: Hotel," the pop star has just received another prestigious honor.
On Thursday, Gaga was announced as a nominee for the 2016 Academy Awards. Gaga's song "Til It Happens to You" was nominated for Best Original Song.
After hearing of her song's nomination, Gaga immediately took to Instagram to express her gratitude for receiving this honor.
"This nomination lends a voice to victims & survivors all over the world," Gaga wrote in a message on her Instagram page, which is posted below. "Thank you to THE ACADEMY for recognizing the movement of people who have come together for this film & song in the name of sexual assault. Myself and Diane [Warren] are simply honored to represent the voices of so many SURVIVORS."

The song was written by Warren for the documentary "The Hunting Ground," which focuses on rape and sexual assault on college campuses across the country. Prior to the single's release, Warren opened up about the meaning behind the Oscar nominated song.
"There are a lot of levels to the song," Warren told Billboard. "There's something very vulnerable about it and something very defiant about it, especially the way [Gaga] sings it. The first verse is vulnerable -- 'You tell me its going to get better?' -- and the second verse comes in and it builds. Really? It gets better? No. You don't know until it happens to you."
Gaga has also received several other nominations for "Til It Happens to You." Besides an Oscar, the track was also nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media for the 2016 Grammys and Best Original Song at the Critics' Choice Awards.
"Til It Happens to You" was nominated for Best Original Song at the 2016 Oscars alongside The Weeknd's "Earned It" from "Fifty Shades of Grey," Sam Smith's "Writing's On the Wall" from "Spectre," "Manta Ray" from "Racing Extinction" and "Simple Song 3" from "Youth."
