George "Pornstache" Mendez (Pablo Schreiber) only appeared in one episode of "Orange is the New Black" season 3, crying to his mother in prison and promising to be a good father to Daya's baby even though she told him it wasn't his.
The episode "A Tittin' and a Harin'" was the first time fans witnessed Pornstache without his trademark moustache, and Schreiber told the Business Insider that they had to remove his most noticeable facial feature in order to prove how low he's gotten in life.
"I was very nervous to do that scene because, to me, the moustache was so important to who he was and I didn't want to take away his main feature, so I needed some convincing," he said.
The person who ended up convincing Schreiber to strip off Pornstache's moustache was the episode's writer Lauren Morelli.
"Her reasoning was that we're never going to see Pornstache lower than this," Schreiber explained. "This is his bottom and to see him in a place where he's incredibly vulnerable was a tool they wanted to use."
Because of Schreiber's commitment to another television show, HBO's "The Brink," he was unable to appear in any more "Orange is the New Black" episodes last season.
Even now, Schreiber cannot confirm whether or not more Pornstache episodes await fans in season 4.
All he knows for sure is that Pornstache is waiting patiently to get out of prison. But whether he intends to exact revenge on those who wronged him or to fulfill his promise of becoming a great dad still remains unclear.
"I can't tell you anything about whether he's coming back or not," he said. "As of now, he's in prison biding his time."
Earlier, Schreiber tweeted his fans, telling them not to worry about Pornstache's future in the show: "For all the over-reactors: Just bc P-Stache won't be on Season 3, doesn't mean we won't see him again..."
"Orange is the New Black" will be back on June 17.
