"Pretty Little Liars" season 6 returned with a bang.
Before the show went on break, it was revealed that Charlotte is A. But Charlotte won't be able to wreak havoc in Rosewood anymore. The show's mid-season premiere revealed that Charlotte is dead.
Series co-creator Marlene King told The Hollywood Reporter that that she and the writers considered Ali to be the one to die but ultimately decided against it.
King also teased that there might still be a small chance that Charlotte will return.
"As I always say, you're never dead in Rosewood," she said. "Alison, we thought was dead for a long time, and now here sh is on the poster. No one ever truly dies in Rosewood and we always find ways to bring your character back in the show. We will see Charlotte again, but it won't be walking amongst the living — most likely."

King also said that Charlotte's death will pave the way for the coming of the new big bad.
"The big bad will definitely make its presence known sooner rather than later," she said, adding, "Actually in the next two episodes, you will see this new big bad be born. It's the birth of the new big bad. Charlotte's death leads to the birth of the new big bad."
When asked if the new big bad is someone fans of the show are already familiar with or if it's a new character, King did not give a direct answer, instead she said that the story will still be familiar but there will be fresh, new elements to it.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, King described the new big bad, who can also be referred to as Big A.
"This is the person who stole the game from Mona," she said, adding, "This Big A reveal brings us to the final 10 episodes of this story that we have been telling for the last three seasons."
