Fans are not the only ones asking for a "Princess Diaries 3" movie, actor Chris Pine also wants a sequel to 2004's "Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement," too.
When asked by a fan if he wants to do another "Princess Diaries" movie, Pine, who starred in the 2004 film alongside Anne Hathaway, said during a Tumblr Q&A hosted by Entertainment Weekly: "Have you been reading my diary?"
Pine is not the only cast member who is looking forward to the continuation of Mia Thermopolis's story, though. Heather Matarazzo, who played Hathaway's best friend Lily in the original "Princess Diaries" movie and its sequel, told MTV that she is excited to learn that fans are asking for a sequel.
"The fact that I still have people coming up to me about [it], the fact that there are still so many fans out there, is always heartwarming," the actress said. "It was a movie that I was so grateful and excited to be a part of."
Matarazzo continued: "This movie is so special, you know? It was made in love. I'm so hapy that people are tweeting me with the potential for a third one. It's so great that people would love to see more."
While Pine and Matarazzo appear to be open to a sequel, Disney is in no rush to make the film.
A representative for the company told Variety that there have been talks about putting out a new installment in the hit franchise, but nothing has been set in stone.
No screenwriter has been attached to the project, and Hathaway has denied receiving a script.
The first "Princess Diaries" movie was released in 2001. It was produced by the late singer Whitney Houston and directed by Garry Marshall. The film franchise is based on Meg Cabot's book series, which follows the story of Mia, an awkward teenager who finds out on her 16th birthday that she is the heiress to the throne of Genovia.
