After dealing with a clash with two of the hottest films in 2015, “Dilwale” and “Bajirao Mastani,” it looks like Shahrukh Khan is going to face another competition at the box office.
SRK had a box office clash with Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and now he will reportedly be competing with Ranbir Kapoor in his upcoming film. Hours after director Rajkumer Hirani confirmed his next film, Sajay Dutt’s biopic, “Dutt,” will reelase on Christmas 2017, SRK’s next film was confirmed for the same day.
Eros International announced the holiday release date of their upcoming film, directed by Aanand L Rai as well.
Kapoor will reportedly play the lead in “Dutt,” while SRK will be the lead actor in Rai’s next film, where he will portray the character of a dwarf. Rai’s film belongs to a genre which has not been explored much in Bollywood.
SRK confirmed during his “Dilwale” promotions that he is in talk with Rai for a film, but stated that he hasn’t officially signed the film.
However, if SRK agrees to star in the film, we are sure he won’t be worried about clashing with Kapoor in 2017. During his “Dilwale” promotions, he commented about his clash with “Bajirao Mastani” and kept his views on the Hindi film industry positive.
In an interview with Pinkvilla (via Filmibeat), SRK talked about the big clash stating, “Of course the audience will get divided and I believe not just in my films but I believe in and respect each and everybody’s film. It is kind of unfortunate.”
SRK further added, “We make 200 Hindi films a year and there are 54 to 56 Fridays a year, four films are bound to come on the same Friday. But having said that, I feel, the time that we are coming in is the Christmas weekend.”
“There is enough business on that weekend for two films to co-exist and do well. Inshallah, both ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will do very well,” said the actor.
