Is Abby Lee Miller prepared to lose her star student?
In a sneak peek of the upcoming episode of "Dance Moms," Abby sits down with Maddie Ziegler, after Maddie wins her first People's Choice Award. Maddie won the "Seriously Popular Award," beating out Kendall Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Bella Thorne and Ruby Rose.
Abby explains to Maddie just how big this win is and the amount of pressure it puts on her.
"The people have chosen you as their winner," Abby said to Maddie. "Another win, yes, and more pressure. The more you win, the more people expect."
Abby also knows that this win means Maddie has to compete even harder for the Abby Lee Dance Company.
"She is the people's choice. Now, it's even more imperative that she gets out on that stage, and she be everything that they could imagine," Abby explained.
Abby then confronts Maddie about the rumors that Maddie is leaving the ALDC after "Dance Moms" season six wraps. While Maddie does not confirm whether or not she will be leaving the team in the near future, Abby warns Maddie about what quitting the ALDC could do to her career.
"I think stopping your dancing would be detrimental. Just be vocal about it: 'I'm with the team. I'm not stopping to dance. I have to work it out, so that I can do both,'" Abby said.
Maddie is silent after Abby's speech, because she will in fact quit the team. It was recently revealed that, upon quitting the team, Maddie will begin her new gig as a judge on Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation," alongside Nigel Lythgoe, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo.
