The production of the sequel to the hit film "Fifty Shades of Grey" titled "Fifty Shades Darker" is reportedly running according to schedule on the film's Vancouver set, but will the film stay true to the second installment of the popular book series or stray in a different direction?
At the close to the first film "Fifty Shades of Grey," Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) had walked away from the love-of-her-life Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) after believing she couldn't make him happy the way he needed to be fulfilled.
Grey felt he needed a BDSM relationship in order to be sexually satisfied and Steele didn't think she could provide him the sexual fulfillment he needed to make him happy.
In the newest release, according to Digital Spy, the couple's relationship faces bigger problems than ever before.
The appearance of a new protagonist to the tale, Anna's boss Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson), throws a wrench into their relationship as Hyde has his sights set on a sexual relationship with Anna and one of revenge with her lover, Christian.
In the book series, Hyde doesn't play a major role in the couple's relationship until "Fifty Shades Freed."
In the film, fans will also get a closer look at the twisted relationship between Christian Grey and his former lover and continued business partner Elena Lincoln (Kim Basinger).
Will the film depict them as just good friends or showcase the two in kinky flashback scenes to when Christian was first introduced to his BDSM lifestyle?
Bella Heathcote will portray Christian Grey's former submissive, the obsessive and possibly unhinged Leila, who returns to Christian's life to find out just what he sees in his new love Ana.
Will Leila continued to be portrayed as troubled or will she have a darker side in the film series?
According to Digital Spy, reports of disagreements with author EL James led the director of the first film Sam Taylor-Johnson, to opt out of this production.
James Foley is stepping in to direct both "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed." Foley previously directed the films "Glengarry Glen Ross" and the cable series "House of Cards."
The book's author EL James is leaning on husband Niall Leonard to translate the book series to the screen. Leonard is known for his TV work on the British shows "Monarch Of The Glen," "Wire In The Blood," and "Wild At Heart."
"Fifty Shades Darker" will be released in theaters February 10, 2017.
