Five Seconds of Summer's drummer Ashton Irwin is reportedly continuing his work with singer and songwriter Andy Black, despite the fact that his band is in the midst of a world tour. Will he miss some dates with the band to do so?
Irwin banged the skins as part of Black's new record. The singer and songwriter posted a photo of himself and Irwin several months back on his Instagram account.
The album also features an appearance from the platinum-selling band, Fall Out Boy.
Black, whose real name is Andy Biersack, recruited the best of pop and punk to support his solo effort. As of Feb. 2016, the album was still being completed.
Also involved in the project is John Feldmann, 5 Seconds of Summer's producer, according to Fuse TV.
Black posted a pic on Instagram of the twosome's iconic meeting. The caption revealed just how excited the singer and songwriter were to spread out on his own.
"Starting week 5 of #AndyBLACK with some kick a** drums! Thanks to the kind & talented @ashtonirwin for being so rad & thanks to @johnfeldy for working diligently to make this record so exciting! I am incredibly proud and stoked to share this with all of you! More updates coming! Stay tuned!"
Black, according to Sugarscape, is the lead vocalist of the rock band Black Veil Brides. With his solo effort, he is looking to make an album that is "80s and goth-inspired" and there are plenty of musical references to the music to his major musical influences Kiss and Motley Crue.
With his work with Black, Irwin wanted to support a friend and fellow musician.
There has been no indication that the backbeat of Five Seconds of Summer would miss any stage gigs due to his work with Black.
Irwin loves to work as a musician and his good work ethic comes from his mother, who worked several jobs to raise Irwin as a single parent. The drummer came from a working-class area of Australia, where he revealed people worked very hard for very little.
"Our culture is working-class, like, f**king violent," said Irwin of growing up in Hawkesbury, a suburb of Sydney to Billboard.
"You can't afford s**t. You take public transport. You buy $5 McDonald's meals. It's just epic, depressed suburbia," he revealed.
Now that he has the funds to afford to live a comfortable lifestyle, the work ethics he grew up with continue to stay with the drummer.
"People our age, we all feel like s**t about ourselves. We wake up and we look at our phones and there are a thousand opinions on who we are, or what we are. It's destructive," he remarked.
Irwin and his Five Seconds of Summer band mates are currently in the midst of their "Sounds Live, Feels Live" world tour.
