Rowan Blanchard, star of Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World" revealed she was afraid of Twitter trolls after coming out as Queer in January.

The 14-year-old actress came out during a brief statement on Twitter in January.

Blanchard revealed that she identifies as queer.

According to a report by Entertainment Tonight, Blanchard called some of the posts she read on her feed regarding her decision to come out were "borderline homophobic."

"I'm okay with it now, but I still realize that I was allowing people to comment on something that's very personal," Blanchard said in an interview with Wonderland Magazine.

"The first day I tweeted about it, it was definitely scary to see people commenting on things that literally have nothing to do with them," the outspoken teenager shared of her experience.

The young starlet realized that although Twitter is a great tool for getting your feelings across to the world, it can also backfire on you when you least expect it.

Making her announcement left the actress feeling as if she "opened up a can of worms."

"I try to only respond to people when it's something positive, which is difficult because a part of me really wants to call people out when they do things that are mean," the teen remarked to Wonderland Magazine.

"The thing that's tough about it is that you're subject to everybody else's opinions when you didn't necessarily ask for that," she said.

"The downside to social media is it's another place for girls to be made fun of and another way for girls to be degraded; the upside is that it's also a way for girls to speak out and to take back some control," Blanchard commented of the downside to social media.

The Disney actress tweeted in January that, "In my life-only ever liked boys however I personally don't wanna label myself as straight, gay or whatever so I am not gonna give myself labels to stick with."

"Girl Meets World," starring Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter, airs on Disney Channel.
