"Girls" season five continues to be one of big changes for the core cast of characters, but none more so than Shoshanna, who moved thousands of miles away from her female support system to take a new job in Japan after being unemployed for a year.
HBO series star Zosia Mamet revealed in a panel discussion of Shosh's taking to the culture so quickly.
"I think she feels sort of akin to the culture and something about the way everyone is there and the aesthetics of the place sort of speaks to parts of her that are allowed to thrive while she's there," Mamet commented of the character in the interview, as posted by The Hollywood Reporter.
See what's in store tomorrow when Girls goes to Japan.

As Shosh, Mamet was dealing with many of the struggles surrounding younger women in today's world, including finding a job, finding love and most of all, finding themselves in a world where expectations are high to make "something" of one's self.
Mamet remarked to The Hollywood Reporter of the changes the character is experiencing, "I think she was having a real rough go at it at home for a while with the job search and with the other girls and with Scott and I think Japan feels like a new lease on life to her."
Although the character ultimately is fired from the job she traveled thousands of miles away from her family and friends to take on, the character ultimately makes what Mamet calls a "f*** it" moment.
"Having to leave and come back home was like losing a battle, like being defeated, and I think in that moment, it's kind of like a 'f*** it' moment where she's like, 'No, I'm not going to let losing my job make me leave this place that I love. I'm going to stay and I'm going to live it up and I'm going to make it work.' I think that's what that moment is for her," Mamet revealed in the panel discussion.
The experience of filming in a foreign country was also new to the "Girls" staff, who packed up and moved to Japan for several weeks to film Shosh's scenes.
Revealed Mamet of the experience, "We basically shot all day everyday and it was insanely hot and it was sort of a crash course in Tokyo while filming a TV show. It was pretty wild."
"Girls" season five airs Sundays at 10 p.m. EST on HBO.
