(Photo : Facebook/Love & Hip Hop Atlanta) "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" season five spoilers: Mona Scott Young hires first transgender cast member, D. Smith.

Mona Scott Young is really breaking barriers on her hit VH1 reality franchise, "Love & Hip Hop."

The executive producer featured the very first openly gay couple on "Love & Hip Hop Hollywood" season two, and she's going above and beyond again on the upcoming season of "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" after casting the very first transgender cast member, music producer D. Smith.

VH1 officially announced the fifth season of the reality show, which will include fan favorites like Joseline Hernandez, Stevie J, Mimi Faust, Rasheeda and Kirk Frost, Lil Scrappy, Yung Joc, Momma Dee, Karlie Redd and her boo Lyfe Jennings and season returning cast members Tammy Rivera and Waka Flocka Flame. Original cast member K. Michelle will also be making her grand return on the show.

So what can fans expect to see from the show's newest controversial cast member?

According to the season five synopsis, Smith is in for a whirlwind of drama as she and her partner in crime attempt to take over Atlanta's music scene.

"D. Smith is a groundbreaking music producer who makes her debut as the first ever transgender female in the "Love & Hip Hop" franchise. This Miami-born, Brooklyn-bred Grammy Award-winning writer turned artist has worked with some of the hottest in the game, including Lil Wayne.

Smith's defining moment came after being tapped by Lil Wayne to be a part of his most successful project to date "The Carter III," which sold one million copies in its debut week, one of only three rap albums in history to ever achieve this feat. With her spitfire sidekick and aspiring singer Betty Idol by her side, this dynamic duo will take the Atlanta scene by storm."

If it's one thing LHHATL fans know for sure, it's that it's never as easy for cast regulars to warm up to the newbies. We can't wait to see who D. Smith and Betty Idol end up teaming and clashing with.

Are you excited to see "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta's" first transgender cast member when the show premieres on Monday, April 4, at 8 p.m.? Tell us by voting in the poll below!
