"Wonder Woman" star Gal Gadot is truly embodying the character she will portray on the big screen. She wanted to make sure that her superhero is someone who will inspire young girls and women everywhere so she made a specific request before agreeing to appear in Zack Snyder's film "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
"For 'BvS' it was important for me that we show how independent she is. She is not relying on a man, and she's not there because of a love story. She's not there to serve someone else," she told Glamour.
And despite all of her strengths and powers, Gadot said that Wonder Woman, also known as Diana Prince, is still a "loving" woman who has "a lot of emotional intelligence."
"And it's all her heart-that's her strength. I think women are amazing for being able to show what they feel. I admire women who do. I think it's a mistake when women cover their emotions to look tough. I say let's own who we are and use it as a strength," she said.
Gadot already has Wonder Woman's emotional strength down pat, but as for her physical strength, she had to train heavily for it.
"Since I've started, I've gained about 17 pounds, and it's all muscle. I feel so much better now. When you feel strong, it changes everything-your posture, the way you walk. I look at photos from five years ago and think, Whoa, I was too skinny. It's not cool," she said.
Gadot also said that the best thing about playing Wonder Woman is the fact that her daughter Alma will have a personal role model.
She earlier told Entertainment Weekly, "I'm so happy when [Alma] grows up she's going to see a female figure she can be inspired by."
"Wonder Woman," which is directed by Patty Jenkins, has been scheduled for release on June 23, 2017.
