"American Horror Story" staple Evan Peters has opened up about the reason why he auditioned for the hit FX show.

Speaking with Huffington Post, the actor said that he had no special reason behind it other than he needed a new job.

"I hadn't had work in a while," Peters said. "I was just getting these guest spots and I realized that I had to really start applying myself because before like I said, I was just a teenager and I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do."

The actor continued: "My manager at the time told me that there was a Ryan Murphy show and that everything he touches turns to gold so it would be amazing if I got it."

After being part of the show's first season "Murder House," the actor decided that he would take acting more seriously and explore more.

"I was like, 'Oh, this is a really good show. I have to start working out. I have to start eating right. I have to start trying to be good and not fuck up,'" Peters said. "I was really trying hard on that first season."

The actor also shared his delight over the spontaneity of some scenes that get shot on the show.

"You know how Ryan works, he's very creative, it's his show so he's writing it and creating it as he's directing," Peters said. "It's very cool working with him and it's very impulsive, I like that."

The actor has since been part of the show's every run. He was in "Asylum," "Coven," "Freak Show" and "Hotel." Despite all the horrific themes of the first seasons, Peters said it only dawned on him how gory and "weird" the show's theme was when he played Mr. March in season 5.

"There was one point, I won't say what part it was, but I was sitting there and there was a lot of blood and it was definitely an intense moment," Peters told Variety. "I was sitting there and we were in between takes and I kind of stood there and said, 'Wow man. I've done five seasons and this is starting to really get to me. It's starting to get a little weird."

Peters has not confirmed if he will join the next installment of the show.

"American Horror Story" season 6 has yet to be given a premiere date.
