In "Arrow" season four, episode 18, the villain known as Damien Darhk murdered Dinah Laurel Lance (Black Canary) using one of Oliver Queen's arrows.
Even though Oliver and the other members of Team Arrow rushed Laurel to the hospital so she could undergo surgery, the Black Canary did not survive.
Many "Arrow" fans are furious that a beloved comic book character with a long legacy was so cavalierly killed off and voiced their fury by creating Twitter hashtags such as "#NoLaurelNoArrow" in order to make sure the CW learns of their displeasure.
If you're a fan of "Arrow" and the Black Canary, then make sure you read our list of the three reasons why Laurel Lance should be brought back to life in season five.
3. The Executive Producer Underestimated How Popular Laurel Was
Forbes noted that even though the relationship between Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak was popular amongst fans, there are equally as many fans who adored the character of Laurel.
Even though co-executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TVLine that he expected outrage from a "very vocal minority," there are plenty of "Arrow" fans from all walks of life that view Laurel's death as a bad move for the show.
Bringing Laurel back would appease the viewers, especially the ones who are disappointed that she was only the Black Canary for such a short period of time.
2. Fans Are Tired Of Lead Actresses Being Killed Off
Medium pointed out that fans are also angry that strong female characters such as Commander Lexa in the CW's "The 100" are being killed off using harmful tropes.
Laurel's death came out of nowhere and it was used to further prop up Oliver's romantic relationship with Felicity.
Resurrecting Laurel and actually giving her storylines independent of Oliver's would go a long way to fixing the mistakes of "Arrow" season four.
1. The Decision To Kill Off Laurel Highlighted Season Four's Bad Writing
Finally, Laurel's death showed how the writing quality in "Arrow" has decreased.
Before Laurel passed away, the doctor assured Oliver that the surgery was successful and that she would survive.
Laurel's parting words being used to bolster Oliver's relationship with Felicity and admitting that he was the love of her life was also at odds at how she was written in previous seasons of "Arrow."
If the "Arrow" showrunners want to fix the mistakes they made, they should start by resurrecting Laurel and turning her into a well-rounded character that has storylines independent of the main character.
It would be a nice change of pace to see scenes in season five of a resurrected Laurel coming to terms with her second chance at life or even scenes where she's hanging out with Felicity or Thea.
"Arrow" season four will return on Wednesday, April 27, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
