New spoilers for "Game of Thrones" season six hinted that there is a chance the red priestess Melisandre of Asshai is going to use her necklace to resurrect Jon Snow.

At the end of the "Game of Thrones" season six premiere, Melisandre disrobed and took off her necklace before going to bed. The ruby in the choker flashed red and the show revealed that the priestess is actually an elderly woman wearing a glamour to appear young and beautiful.

"Game of Thrones" star Carice Van Houten told Entertainment Weekly that she was thrilled the audience finally saw how old her character was.

"I was really happy when I read that we were going to reveal that this year," she explained. "I don't think a lot of people will see that coming. It makes her immediately more vulnerable, but also wiser and even more mysterious. There's also a vulnerability in her age."

The actress admitted that despite what she has led others to believe, Melisandre still is not quite sure how her magic works.

"She has no idea how she does it," Van Houten said. "A magic necklace? Wow."

The season six premiere also hinted Melisandre's faith in the god Rh'llor is shaken because she had a vision of Jon Snow fighting at Winterfell and feels her premonition was false because he was murdered in a mutiny.

In "Game of Thrones" season three, the red priest Thoros of Myr admitted to Melisandre that his faith in Rh'llor shaken before he joined the Brotherhood Without Banners.

However, his faith in the red god was later revived after he accidentally brought Beric Dondarrion back to life and knew that the Brotherhood's leader was resurrected due to the power of Rh'llor.

One fan theory on Reddit suggested that Davos is going to ask Melisandre to use her magic to revive Jon in the second episode. Perhaps she makes a half-hearted attempt at placating Stannis's former advisor and places her ruby necklace on Jon's body, which leads to the Lord Commander's resurrection.

Not only would this be a great twist that would shock viewers, but it would also be an excellent callback to the scene in season three where Thoros of Myr told Melisandre how he managed to resurrect Beric.

"Game of Thrones" is currently airing on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
