"Harry Potter" alum Daniel Radcliffe is thanking "X-Men: Apocalypse" star Jennifer Lawrence for opening his eyes about the gender pay gap issue in Hollywood.
Prior to reading Lawrence's article "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars" in the Lenny Letter, Radcliffe had no clue that actresses are being given an unfair deal compared to their male counterparts.
"It is nuts to me," Radcliffe told The Daily Telegraph. "I'm incredibly glad it (gender equality) has come up because I had just f**king naively thought this was not an issue any more because how can this still be happening?"
Radcliffe added that the issue is "crazy" and he believes it's about time that Hollywood steps up and do something to promote equal pay among men and women.
"Especially if we want to pride ourselves on being a liberal, progressive industry then you can't be doing that," he said.
Radcliffe admitted that he cannot wrap his head around the controversy surrounding "American Hustle," which stars Lawrence and Amy Adams, as well as Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner.
The Sony leak revealed that the men got higher earnings even though Lawrence and Adams did the same amount of work as them.
"And please correct me if I'm wrong - but if I have this right, they had all the boys on one deal and all the girls on another deal," said Radcliffe.
"That, to me, is shocking. Stuff like that is crazy and the thing I can't help but think is 'Who? Who's doing that? What guy is sitting in a studio somewhere thinking let's f**k the girls out of some money?'"
Radcliffe should definitely join forces with his former co-star Emma Watson, who is now the United Nations ambassadress for gender equality. The actress is actively promoting their HeForShe campaign and has even launched her own feminist book club.
