One of Bollywood’s most successful actors, Shahrukh Khan, has already signed a few new films for 2016. After a successful release with “Happy New Year” and "Dilwale," a few new details of the actor’s upcoming film “Raees,” has been revealed as it began shooting.
We’ve been hearing a lot of the actor’s movie and fans are excited to see what all the hype is about, however, it looks like they'll have to wait a little bit longer before watching the film.
SRK apparently wants to make sure that “Raees” has a good release date and doesn’t clash with any other big films. The actor has been looking for a good date that won’t class with Salman Khan’s “Sultan” Eid release.
According to Bollywood Life, a source said, “Shah Rukh is looking to postpone his film to 2017. He wants the date, January 26. But there is another film on that date. Hrithik Roshan’s home production ‘Kaabil,’ directed by Sanjay Gupta. SRK has had a word with the Roshans. There are not many choices left. And he cannot indefinitely postpone the film. He has to take a call soon.”
“Raees” recently finished shooting and was supposed to release this Eid. However, with Salman’s movie “Sultan” releasing on the same day, SRK has reportedly agreed to move his release date.
SRK apparently told Bollywood Life that Aditya Chopra and Salman are friends and he would move “Raees” if it has to be done. He added that it would be logical to avoid the clash with “Sultan,” especially because Salman has always claimed Eid as his release date.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani and SRK were looking at releasing “Raees” on July 29 or August 12, however, since other films are set to release on those dates, they decided to push it even further.
“The film is based in the backdrop of the Muslim ghetto in Gujarat and ‘Raees’ is essentially a story of this man who becomes powerful. The heroine’s role is also a prominent one - that of SRK’s wife, a Muslim woman,” said a source close to the movie, according to Filmi Beat.
SRK will be seen playing an underworld don’s character. The director admitted that the lead role’s look and accent has been changed.
“He plays a man from the ghetto in Gujarat. He will dress and speak in a particular manner,” said Dholakia to Bollywod Hungama, who added that the film started on the issue of Prohibation. “We wanted to make a film on the issue. And since Gujarat is the only state that has Prohibition, we decided to locate our plot in Gujarat.”
