Rumors have been circulating for a while that Deepika Padukone and Salman Khan were going to star in a film together. The two actors have expressed interest in working with each other for a long time, but are those plans being put on hold?
According to Bollywood Life, Padukone was supposed to star in Kabir Khan’s film, “Tubelight,” with Salman. Sources close to the project revealed to the gossip site that the actress was keen to work with Salman, but felt that her character wasn’t a strong leading role. She had agreed to work on the film only under one condition, which was for Kabir to make her character important and give her a heavy role, however, it looks like those terms were not made.
Sources told Bollywood Life that the film demands the girl to be of Chinese origin, therefore Padukone will be replaced.
“Deepika has realized that she doesn't have much scope in this film. Her condition was that they increase her role when she comes on board, but Kabir is very strict with his writing and doesn’t plan to do any such thing. Hence the makers will go as planned with a girl of Chinese origin,” said the source.
According to Filmi Beat, the movie is set during the 1960s era and would have the “good old days” touch to it. The makers of the film would start shooting during end of July or early August 2016.
