Deepika Padukone is one of the most loved actresses in the Bollywood industry by fans, directors and actors so it is no surprise that the “Tamasha” star has a full schedule of filming.
After releasing “Piku,” “Tamasha,” and “Bajirao Mastani,” Padukone is getting ready to work on other projects, and it appears that even Hollywood directors want to work with her.
Padukone is currently filming for her upcoming Hollywood debut movie, “xXx 3: The Return Of Xander Cage” with Vin Diesel, but it looks like she might be booking another Hollywood film.
According to Times of India (via Zee News), Padukone auditioned for a role in Tom Cruise’s franchise film, “The Mummy.”
It was earlier reported that Huma Qureshi had also auditioned for the movie, but nothing has been confirmed yet. As far as details for what role they both auditioned for wasn’t revealed.
In “xXx: Return Of Xander Cage,” Padukone will be seen playing the role of Serena who is Xander Cage’s ex-girlfriend.
Director D J Caruso previously posted a photo of Padukone in black leather shorts and a black crop top, showing some of her tattoos that were designed for the movie. The actress is seen looking at fiercely at the stuntman.
“After the slate. I felt sorry for this stuntman. Serena unleashed!#xxx3 #xandercaagereturns Dominican here we come,” Caruso captioned the photo on Twitter.
Sources close to the film are also confirming the Bollywood actress’ role in the movie, saying that she will be playing the leading lady.
Padukone previously spoke out about the movie, admitting just how excited she is for the project.
Padukone is proud to have bagged a role in “XXX:The Return of Xander Cage,” but she is also nervous about going into a new territory. She will star in the third installment of the film with Diesel and Samuel L Jackson. She is proud that her ethnicity helped her get the role in the movie, which will give her the opportunity to flaunt her Indian background.
“I am very excited. But I want to confess that I am very nervous. Most importantly I feel proud to be a part of a film where I get to flaunt my ethnicity,” said Padukone according to Indian Express. “The reason they are roping me is because of my background. I really hope that i do well in the movie and people go and watch it.”
