New spoilers for "The Originals" season three hinted that Klaus Mikaelson and Lucien Castle are going to fight to the death in episode 20.
SpoilerTV reported that the CW released the official synopsis for episode 20, which is titled "Where Nothing Stays Buried."
After the death of Cami, Klaus is going to team up with Freya and Elijah in order to come up with a plan to take down Lucien. Unfortunately, they are forced to put their efforts on hold after Kol begs them for help.
Klaus insists that Freya and Elijah stay behind to help Kol while he goes with Hayley Marshall-Kenner to the bayou and confronts Lucien.
During Lucien and Klaus's showdown, dire circumstances force Freya to take matters into her own hands and she sets off a chain of events that will change their life forever.
Given the fact that Lucien killed Cami, it will be interesting to see if Klaus manages to get revenge on the man who was responsible for his lover's death or if he will find another way to stop his former friend.
"The Originals" co-executive producer Michael Narducci hinted to Entertainment Weekly that Klaus could try to honor Cami's life by fighting his own inner darkness.
"Klaus's relationship with Cami changed him," he explained. "Cami knew that her power as a psychologist was that she might be able to a have an influence on the most dangerous vampire in history and she felt an obligation to try to lead him out of his own darkness. Whether or not she did that remains to be seen, but she certainly tried all the way through to the end of her life."
It is possible that Klaus will be in a position to deliver a killing blow to Lucien, but he decides to come up with another plan to stop the hybrid because he wants to prove that Cami was right and he is not a savage beast who mindlessly kills his enemies.
"The Originals" is currently airing on Friday nights at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
